Shortly before Christmas the Community Patch Team (CPT), also known as "Mad Vulture Games" has released their last patch for the Enhanced Edition of Forsaken Gods.
The patch has been produced in collaboration with Nordic Games and solves a number of bugs, including a few important ones, which were present in the Enhanced Edition.
The patch has not been released until today, because the team has enjoyed a well-deserved break after their work on the Enhanced Edition. The perseverance of the team is truly remarkable!
In the german WoG forum RoiDanton of the CPT has stated that no decision has yet been taken on another patch for the original Gothic 3 game:
"Like said, we have been thinking about this. But no final decision has been made. We will once again take a small break, it's Christmas after all."
In our forum you can read the complete changelog.

| [Editing] New version of Gothic 3 Content-Mod released |

A new version of the Gothic3 content mod has become available. And again, the creators of the mod prove that it is possible to modify Gothic 3 thoroughly without using a mod kit.
Originally, the idea and the goal of the mod were to adapt the atmosphere of the game to create a Gothic 2-feeling. Which worked out quite well: texture packages, sounds and a lot of content were integrated.
As the modding project progressed, an impressive piece of work was created, which doesn't focus just on Gothic 2 anymore, but also includes a whole lot of other changes.
Version 2.3 of the mod comes with many changes, new things, extras, and improvements.
To download the mod (international version) follow the link below.

To put an end to all the questions: No, the Story Project is not dead, you can be sure about that!
Although the Story Team were hard at work playtesting the game last month, the project has registered great progress.
Some particularly nice screenshots that showcase all the things which were modified about the game world and its inhabitants can now be viewed on their homepage.
For more information and the screenshots check out the CSP homepage!

During an interview with Michael Rüve, managing director of Pyranha Bytes, PC Games asked him a few questions about the devotion of the fans as well as their critical attitude.
PC Games : How do you explain the enormous ability to suffer of the Gothic-fans, who have almost worshipped the third part despite the many problems. Fans who have chosen it several times as ‘Game of the Year’, and who have even taken the development of patches into their own hands.
Michael Rüve : Apparently it wasn’t that bad, the way it was made. Somebody once described Gothic 3 as a crude diamond, with respect to the technique. It seems others also saw it like that, and have gone over it with their polishing tools.
PC Games : At times JoWood and Piranha Bytes were quite heavily criticised by their own fans. Were there moments, during which you saw yourself pilloried wrongfully ?
Michael Rüve : In some cases, yes. But those were isolated opinions, which appear everywhere during some time. But usually not. We are no saints. But in the end, isn’t it better for the creator of a piece of work, when it is being exposed to justified criticism, compared to when just no person shows any interest for it ?
The whole interview (in German) is available on the website of PC Games. It also includes questions about the relationship with JoWood and the future of Gothic.

Gothic 3 scored only 8/10 because developer JoWooD "forced" the game's release when it was "not ready", developer Piranha Bytes has revealed to Eurogamer.
That was the final nail in the coffin: Piranha Bytes walked away from its long-term publisher partner and the renowned RPG series it had created.
