The new Community Patch v1.73 was released. This will be the final patch, made by the Community Patch Team. Some points from the changelog:
Graphics- + HDR Rendering.
- + Soft particles.
- + Improved bloom effect.
- + Leaf subsurface scattering (only with activated Rim Lighting and Shader 3.0).
- + Heat haze. (At minimum Shader 2.0. Always on, exception: few fire places, because the world has not been recompiled).
- - Terrain shadows on faraway trees corrected.
- - Some texture/material changes.
Framework- - Texture/Shadow/Light flickering eliminated (occured on ATI 4xxx serie cards).
- - Bug corrected where audio system always cached out sound even if property said “no”.
- - Some minor bug fixes and improvements.
- + Added czech manual to installer.
- - Modding manuals updated.
For more updates please take a look at the changelog. Important notes from the patch team:
The patch can be installed on all g3 versions and is available for all languages. It‘s only for original G3 game, not for Forsaken Gods.
The CP 1.73 contains all previous patches. So you need only this patch to update Gothic 3.
1.7x savegames are compatible with CP 1.73. Older savegames (1.60 or earlier) are not compatible.
If you have installed modifications then save it before installing the patch. The patch will delete all superfluously files during the installation. We can‘t guarantee that all modifications will work with the CP 1.73.
If you have installed the quest pack then you should install it again after the 1.73 installation.

- Heat haze (at minimum Shader 2.0; always on; exception: few fire places because of recompiling the world).
- Mana recipe icon corrected.
- Faraway trees project terrain shadows corrected.
The release of the patch is estimated for September. Take a look into the forum thread linked below for example pictures and videos.

Our friends from PiranhaClub and Mighty DWARF have released the ModPack v.1.7.2 including the Modstarter 1.2. With the Gothic 3-Modstarter modifications for Gothic 3 can be managed.
The new Modstarter has been modified for the Community Patch 1.7x and is supposed to be able to handle everything that has been described in the CP1.7x handbook for Modder.
The Modstarter was already working with CP1.6, but to guarantee compatibility of the MDS to CP.17x whole new parts of the Modstarter had to be developed.
More details can be found in the following thread in the "Gothic Modding" section" of our forum: [1.7x]Gothic3 - Mod Starter (v1.2) by PiranhaClub & Mighty DWARF

A hotfix for the recently released Community Patch has been released. This patch concludes the work the Community Team has put into fixing Gothic 3.
Unlike the actual patches, you can continue using your old save games with the hotfix. Community Patch 1.70 is, however, required for the hotfix. There is also a possibility that hotfix 1.71 is incompatible with some mods, so backing up your Gothic 3 installation is advised prior to installing.

Dear Gothic Community!
More than a year ago the last patch for Gothic 3 has been released. Long time of waiting since then, a long time for the Community Patch Team to work on another patch and a long time of testing, but the waiting time was definitely worth it!
The Gothic 3 Community Patch 1.70 is now ready!
We would like to thank all of you for all the feedback and motivation for the team. This patch would not exist without such a great community behind its back!
And very special thanks go to all our testers! Together with the team they worked through the nights, reported every single bug and provided us with great feedback. This patch would not be possible without them!
OK, enough of that! Get the patch and have fun!
Best regards,
Your Community Patch Team

In the third and final part of the interview you will read about how the team judges its own accomplishments and what Gothic 3 will be like with the patch. The members are enthusiastic and proud of the result, but at the same time remain realistic.
Quote: "The patch brings Gothic 3 forward with a giant step. An extreme amount of bugs was removed. And especially the latest changes are a real update compared to the relative small Patch 1.60."

| [Community] Spotlight on for the Community Patch Team! |

The Community Patch Team has been working for many months on what will be the final patch for Gothic 3. This patch (1.70) will bring a great many changes and a large number of improvements. It holds the promise of filling Gothic 3 with a new life! The teasers released up to this date suggest that the game will be worth to be taken off the shelf and played again.
To honour the excellent work the team has been doing, WoG decided to put them in the spotlight with an elaborate interview. The interview first appeared on the german WoG site and has now been translated, so that the english-speaking part of the Community can finally get a good idea of what it is like to be a member of this team, and how they have been fighting like true Gothic fanatics for a long time to lift Gothic 3 to a completely new level…..
WoG presents this interview in three parts. In the first part you will learn, among other things, who the members of the Team are, how the team got together, and that once they got the knack of it with CP 1.6, they just didn’t want to let go…
